João is from Cartaxo, Portugal and is an experienced coach with a Sports Coaching Diploma and a UEFA B license.

João joined GPS in 2015, starting in Massachusetts and then moved to GPS Carolina where he was the Girls Program Director of Coaching for GPS NASA.

In the summer of 2016, João joined GPS Canada and starting also his coaching role with Byron Optimist Soccer Club.

Rahim was recognized as one of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) top 30 coaches under 30 (Top 15 Male Coaches). In addition, he has been a part of the Canadian Sport for Life—Canadian Leaders School for 2013.


Rahim has a wide range of coaching experience, which includes being the First Assistant and Recruiting Coordinator for the University at Buffalo, FC London Men’s USL-PDL Assistant Coach, Fanshawe College Assistant Coach, FC London Academy Coach and North London Soccer Club Director of Junior Programs.


Rahim holds an NSCAA Premier Diploma, NSCAA Advanced National Diploma, NSCAA National Diploma, NSCAA Director of Coaching, NSCAA Special Topics Diploma in Systems of Play, NSCAA Special Topics Diploma in Long Term Athletic Development (LTAD), USSF National ‘C’ License, US National Youth License, League Managers Association Evaluating Performance, English FA Age Appropriate Training, English FA Coaching Children, Level 2 Certification by the International Society of Performance Analysis in Sport and recently received certification as International Sport Leader for Life.


In March 2014, Rahim obtained his United States Soccer Federation (USSF) National B Coaching License. The USSF National "B" license is awarded to Technical Directors and Coaches exhibiting the required level of technical, tactical, physical, social, emotional and psychological skills to coach up to and including university and college level. The USSF National "B" License success criteria focus on deep recognition on the principles of the game and its technical applications.
