NOW OPEN - Indoor 2017-2018 Program Registration

Registration for Byron and Norwest's joint Centre of Excellence (COE) indoor skill development programs is now open. Programs are tailored for both Competitive and Recreational soccer players.

The COE programs are tailored for both Competitive and Recreational soccer players with the individual player in mind. Technical focus topics such as ball mastery, passing & receiving, shooting & finishing will be themed each week. Session’s style will use a mix of activities and small-sided games.

The COE program follows the clubs’ player development plan and features age-appropriate training (Long Term Player Development) delivered by certified and qualified Staff Coaches.

For details on either program please click on "Competitive " or "Recreational".

Byron-Norwest Soccer Pursuing Partnership

Byron Optimist and NorWest Soccer Clubs are pursuing a strategic partnership for the upcoming 2018 season.

Our Clubs have a history of successful partnerships and are currently exploring opportunities to continue to work together to more effectively and efficiently offer the highest quality soccer programs possible for all ages at the Recreational, District Competitive and Regional Competitive levels of play

As a first step, Byron and NorWest are looking to pool coaching, field, technical and administrative resources.  Byron and NorWest will continue to individually field teams at all age groups where numbers permit - so players will still register with their own ‘home’ association.

However, moving forward, the clubs will both be considered part of the West Alliance.  West Alliance is not its own club but essentially a common banner.  This will allow for the possibility of combined teams where appropriate.   This does mean there will be some operational changes for the upcoming 2018 outdoor season.

Currently, these changes include:

  • Combined Byron and NorWest fall assessments for all age groups fielding teams for the competitive 2018 outdoor season

  • Combined Byron and NorWest rosters for select age groups

  • Changes to practice fields the 2018 outdoor season; all teams may practice at both Byron and NorWest fields

  • A shared Technical Director, Chris Loucks, who will work with GPS on all technical aspects of club programming for all ages

GPS and Byron will maintain their current partnership and moving forward, GPS will be actively involved with programming at both clubs.  We believe that these changes will positively influence player and team development for all ages and will significantly enhance programming for all skill levels.

We appreciate your support and patience during this time of transition and will continue to share more information as details become finalized.  We are all looking forward to a very successful 2018 outdoor season.  Should you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact Tania Larsen, Vice President Byron Soccer, at or Brian Foster, President NorWest, at
